BEAUTIFUL ISLAND

The Hundred Islands National Park in the province of Pangasinan about four or five hours' drive north from Manila is an attractive national park worth a visit.

With 124 islands (123 at high tide) scattered around the Lingayen Gulf, the National Park covers an area of about 18 square kilometers.

The islands are coral formations of varying sizes, some of which have scrub and sometimes small sandy beaches. Some of the corals have been damaged by fishermen previously using dynamite for fishing. Snorkeling is available but be aware that the water is sometimes not very clear. Things can get a little crowded on weekends or holidays.

Just three of the islands have been developed for tourists: Governor Island, Quezon Island, and Children's Island. There are good views over the islands available from Governor and Quezon Islands. Camping is available on all these three islands for a small fee. Alternatively, you can stay in a "pavillion" or a cottage.

The Hundred Islands National Park is accessed from Alaminos City, Pangasinan.
